our roots

Born in the winter of 2017, The Deli was built on the foundations of the towns long serving Butchery. Jay & his team loved the idea of creating a store that would continue in the ways of serving the community such as the butchers had done for many years. Forged in the shadow of the towns well loved ‘Good Food Shop’ it was clear there was an appetite for a store where you could nip in to grab a wholesome home cooked lunch, store cupboard essentials or to chose from a range of carefully sourced deli produce that would include a range of cheeses, meats, antipasti & whole foods that had been carefully selected based on provenance & quality.

Fast forward to the spring of 2019 & The Deli has gone from strength to strength, serving the community as a friendly spot to pop in for a chat & buy a loaf or the place to go to fill a basket with a whole host of goodies that can’t be found on the supermarket shelves.

The Deli is proudly moving in the direction of being a ‘zero packaging’ + zero waste environment, selling organic whole foods in bulk form & making their locally renowned sausage rolls, scotch eggs, quiches, tarts, bakes & cakes all in the heart of Oxted. Nothing goes to waste from the shop, any fresh produce that hasn’t quite sold off the shelf is taken straight down to the kitchen to be turned into a yummy delight to be sold back in the shop.
